National Recognition: West Virginia University’s Chapter Delta Tau has been recognized as an Honor Chapter two academic years in a row—2014-2015 and 2015-2016. Out of more than 600 chapters, only 13 to 15 were granted this distinction. Awards: In 2016, Delta Tau won first place in the 5th annual Sigma Delta Pi Facebook Competition and in 2015 the chapter was awarded second place in the Sigma Delta Pi Birthday Cake Contest. Study Abroad: Members have exclusive access to undergraduate study abroad awards for study in Spanish-speaking countries.
Research: Graduate students may apply for research grants. Distinctive Students: Honors such as the Gabriela Mistral Award, the Mario Vargas Llosa Award, and the Ana María Matute Award are available. Cultural Activities: In the past years, the chapter members have organized numerous Hispanic Festivals, a Spanish Conversation Partner Program, film series, bake sales featuring foods from the Spanish-speaking world, free tutoring for WVU students of Spanish, volunteer projects in the Morgantown community, and a Tapas Contest. Develop lasting friendships: Our members are from all over the world, but they have one thing in common: love of the Spanish language and an admiration for the diverse cultures of the Hispanic world. Through social media and travel, members keep in touch.
